Screen Goo at Stanford University's Nathan Cummings Art Gallery The Department of Art & Art History at Stanford University's School of Humanities & Sciences located in Palo Alto, California, has facilities at five locations on the campus including studios, galleries, labs and administrative offices. One of them is the Nathan Cummings Art Building. Watten Painting, Inc. was chosen as the contractor to paint a large High Contrast Screen Goo projection screen on a large plaster wall to be used for optimum viewing of digital pictures. Strict California and Stanford University Lead Exposure laws and regulations dictated that a lead-free and safe product had to be used in this project. Exposure to lead is most common in buildings built before 1950. Repainting or remodeling can disturb old lead paint primarily in commercial and residential structures built before 1978. Lead in paint, dust, soil, and water can cause lead poisoning in Children and Adults. As Lead hazard awareness increases, Watten Painting, Inc., takes pride in being able to reduce not only the worry of their customers but the environment as well. Watten Painting, Inc. has completed the DEP approved Lead Smart course. This enables Watten Painting, Inc. to be one of the few painting contractors in the Silicon Valley and San Francisco Bay Area to implement lead-safe work practices. All painters are trained at the action level by an accredited agency. All painters are required to take blood tests and a fit test for respirators. Watten Painting took a professional approach to this as well as all other projects they do. We felt it would be educational for any and all Screen Goo users to learn from Watten's work and so we publish the photos below which show a step-by-step process used by Watten Painting Inc. to produce a fine end product in a world-class Art Gallery.
